Red Hill man faces year-old sexual assault charges

A 28-year-old Red Hill man faces court after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in June last year.

Police allege the man sexually assaulted a woman he met that evening in Braddon.

The woman’s friend intervened and the victim reported the assault to police the next day.

Following an investigation by the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team, police searched the man’s home on Wednesday afternoon.

He was arrested and charged with sexual intercourse without consent and possessing anabolic steroid.

There was a witness and the alleged offence was reported the next day, so why has this taken a year to follow up? When was the alleged perpetrator brought in for questioning? If it was a robbery, a non-sexual assault or some other offence, would it take this long? What’s the cause of the slow action?
