Only one suburb affected in bin-collection changes

Bin collection services for Charnwood will change from April 28.

Only household bin collections in Charnwood are affected by a change of contractor, when pick-ups move from Mondays to Wednesdays.

Last year the ACT government announced the consolidation of all three household waste collection services into one contract. This contract was awarded to JJ’s Waste and Recycling from April 28.

While Charnwood is the only suburb to be affected the government says bin collections across Canberra may occur at a different time of the day than usual and asks that all residents have bins out on the kerb by 7am from April 28.

The government says there is a possibility of temporary service disruptions in the lead up to April 28 and also when the new contractor starts, so residents are requested to leave bins on the kerb until emptied.
