Disqualified and on the run in Flynn

A 36-year-old Belconnen man will be summonsed to appear before court after fleeing from police this morning (Saturday, May 9).

About 1.00am police observed a grey Holden Commodore sedan travelling at speed along Kingsford Smith Drive in Flynn.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Verbrugghen Street, Melba however the driver failed to stop and accelerated away from police.

The vehicle continued along Copland Drive, McEachern Crescent and Paling Place where the driver decamped as the vehicle was coming to a stop.

The driver was pursued on foot and apprehended a short time later. He was taken into custody before being conveyed to hospital for drug testing.

The man is expected to be charged with a range of traffic offences including driving while disqualified, dangerous driving and failing to stop.

He will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
