Boy thumped by passing stranger

Police are seeking witnesses to an assault in Macquarie after a 15-year-old boy was punched repeatedly in the head yesterday afternoon.

Around 3.10pm, the boy was walking along a footpath between Catchpole Street and Blackman Crescent when he was approached by an unknown man. The man repeatedly punched the boy to the side of the head, knocking him to the ground. The offender then took off in an unknown direction.

The offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 180cm (5’11”) tall, and aged in his early twenties. He has a lean build, broad shoulders and short blond hair. He was wearing black pants and a black jacket.

The unprovoked attack left the 15-year-old victim with some swelling and a cut to the side of his head. Shortly after the incident, a female, who was on the same footpath at the time of the incident, came to the victim’s aid. It is believed she may have witnessed the assault.

Police would like to speak to this female and also ask any other person who may have seen a man matching the description in the Macquarie area.
