Parents successfully bring back ‘democracy sausages’

The “democracy sausage” is back.

AFTER some “hard” advocating over the last couple of days, the ACT’s body for public school parents have been given the green-light for “democracy sausages”.

The ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations welcomes back the democracy sausage, in a covid-safe way, after the association worked working constructively with the Education Directorate and ACT chief health officer Dr Kerryn Coleman to allow the democracy sausage to be served on election day.

Council president Kirsty McGovern-Hooley says: “This year has been a difficult one for school communities, and its great that P&Cs have the  chance to fundraise with the community at such an important event.

“We expect that local communities will be both familiar and comply with COVID safe requirements, such as social  distancing and not gathering in groups.”

“Council will be working with participating P&Cs to develop a covid safe plan to ensure election day barbecues are compliant with ACT Health directives.”
