Barr confident of leading the nation on vaccination

CHIEF Minister Andrew Barr invited Canberrans in the vaccination queue to bring forward their bookings following 19,500 new Pfizer doses becoming available at ACT government clinics.

Speaking at this morning’s (September 11) covid press briefing, he also said the national availability of 10 million Moderna vaccine doses meant the ACT would expect to receive 167,000 doses, which would be available in October and November through pharmacies.

Of current vaccinations he said the ACT led the nation with 95 per cent of all Canberrans over the age of 60 having had at least one dose.

And with 70,000 booked for vaccination at ACT government clinics, he said it was a good sign that 75 per cent of people over the age of 16 had had their first dose.

He said he had “great confidence” the ACT would exceed the national targets and that a high-rate Canberra meant a safer Canberra.
