A 43-year-old Queanbeyan man is facing the ACT Magistrates Court on eight charges in relation to multiple incidents following his arrest by Operation Toric officers on Wednesday.
Police allege the man was speeding near the arboretum on the Tuggeranong Parkway at about 6.45am on Wednesday. A short time later, the grey Dodge Journey erratically cut across two lanes, narrowly missing other vehicles, before colliding with a light pole, spinning, and flipping on to its roof down an embankment.
The driver, who had been disqualified from driving for two years in October 2022, was arrested at the scene.
Police say the man was also wanted by police in relation to earlier incidents this year and has been charged with three counts of drive while disqualified, two counts of property damage, two counts of reckless driving and one charge of failing to stop for police.
Operation Toric is dedicated to locating and charging recidivist offenders who ignore court-imposed penalties.
Anyone who witnessed the parkway incident or has dash-cam footage of the collision should call 1800 333000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
