THERE were four serious assaults in Civic at the weekend.
Officer in Charge of City Station, Insp Stephen Ladd said this level of violent crime over one weekend was “incredibly disappointing”.
“Assault of any form is unacceptable and quite frankly, everyone has a right to feel safe on a night out in our city,” he said.
“I urge Canberrans to be conscious of the level of alcohol or illicit drugs they are consuming, the behavior they are exhibiting and the danger they are putting themselves and the community in.”
Police say the first incident occurred about 1.40am on Friday where three men were allegedly involved in the assault of a fourth man out the front of Cube nightclub.
The second incident occurred about 11.50pm on Saturday where two men were removed from King O’Malley’s. After exiting the venue, one man allegedly assaulted the other.
The third incident occurred about 2am on Sunday out the front of the nightclub 88mph. As several people attempted to exit the venue, one man was assaulted before hitting his head on the kerb, knocking him unconscious.
The fourth incident over the weekend saw a man taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a brawl near a Civic hotel early on Sunday morning.
Anyone with information of any of the incidents or who may have video should call 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
