CARLEY Cornelissen has been painting since she was a little girl. Raised in country Victoria, she studied art in Melbourne, winning finalist places in three art awards this year and exhibiting in four different galleries across Australia.
Cornelissen’s primary focus is on wildlife from around the world, evidenced in a recent painting titled “Back in my day we had these insects called bees” and her participation in Warrnambool’s SCOPE Galleries’ Art Award, “Art Concerning Environment.”
But her other passion is sourcing recycled frames and surfaces, adding to the history of an individual frame.
Though not exclusively a dramatic colourist, she sees bold colours as representing “a glimmer of hope.”
