Kite festival in Belconnen this Sunday!

THE Belconnen Arts Centre and Belconnen Community Service will be hosting the inaugural Spring Winds Kite Festival this Sunday between 12 and 4pm.

They’re asking the community to join them to celebrate a unique day of community celebrations and be a part of this spring-inspired festival on the banks of Lake Ginninderra, adjacent to Belconnen Arts Centre.

The Festival will have kite making workshops for families, kite parades, kite flying, drum making and playing workshops, drumming parades, origami activities, kinetic art works, bird and fish installations, Cars that Paint, guerrilla knitting, a jumping castle, face-painting, delectable food and an exciting variety of dance and music performances.

Large kites will be flown and on display, and many groups will bring their own community kites made last year for the Arts Centre’s WIND AIR WATER KITE FESTIVAL.

From 4 to 6pm there will be an an after party and celebration of the Belconnen Arts Centre’s fifth birthday at the Arts Centre.
