New works at Weston Park

SHANE Rattenbury has announced the second stage of upgrade works have begun at Weston Park, Yarralumla.

“This second stage work includes the construction of new barbeques, a picnic shelter, drinking fountain with refill stations, as well as pedestrian access paths, which will connect to a recently completed path that runs along the perimeter of the park,” Shane said.

“The first stage of these improvements was completed in December 2013. Along with the construction of the perimeter path, this work also included improvements to the Kurrajong Point parking area and to the large pond area.

“Weston Park is one of Canberra’s favourite parks. Located on the southern shore of Lake Burley Griffin, the park is a great place to relax for a picnic, go for a walk, or take children. It also attracts a large number of interstate and international visitors.

“These improvement works will ensure this valued park will continue to be one of Canberra’s many great attractions into the future, and we hope local residents and visitors will continue to enjoy everything Weston Park has to offer.

Works at Weston Park are anticipated to be complete by June 2015. To limit the impact on the use of the park work will be staged and the existing shelter and barbecue area will remain open until the new shelter is close to completion. The ACT Government would like to thank people for their patience during this construction period.
