Driver fives times over limit

A MAN who crashed his car into street signage in Banks last night was caught drink-driving more than five times over the legal limit.

Police were called to Bellchamers Crescent at about 9.45pm and found a badly damaged car.

Police believe the car had collided with the street signs at the intersection of Tharwa Drive and Pocket Avenue. The 30-year-old male driver from Crestford in NSW, was breathalised and returned a positive result.

He was taken to the Tuggeranong Police Station where he returned an alcohol content reading of 0.277.

Checks revealed that he had been disqualified from driving until August 2013. He was charged with driving while disqualified and high-range drink-driving.
