Rumours swell over agency sale

CANBERRA’s advertising industry is abuzz with rumours since the announcement offering an unnamed local agency for an asking price of $2.81 million.

“It is certainly not CRE8IVE, we love what we do and are certainly not looking to get out just yet,” said principal James Willson.

An associate of Zoo Advertising dismissed the suggestion it was them with a laugh and “not at that price!”

The agency Couch Creative has also denied it’s them.

Industry insiders point to Manuka-based creative agency Swell Design Group as being on the block.

When pressed late this morning, Swell director Anton Scott-Cameron would not confirm the agency was for sale beyond that he had “no confirmation to provide”, but said he would be speaking to his staff about the rumours this afternoon.

An advertisement for the business says it is “a leading design agency based in the ACT” and that the unnamed agency boasts a successful 14-year history.

“The owners are passionate about their business and would be pleased to work within the business for several years. Otherwise, the company has been structured so that it can be effectively operated under management.”
