Thousands of burritos going free

ABOUT 3000 people are expected to line up for free burritos on Friday, August 3 when  Guzman y Gomez opens in Bunda Street.

We’re promised a fiesta of authentic Mexican flavours and sounds when GYG open their first Canberra restaurant (Bunda Street, Canberra Centre – former Flight Centre) with a live mariachi performance, spot prizes and free burritos to everyone who stops by.

Between 11am and 8pm, Canberrans are being challenged to beat the current free burrito record held by GYG Albert Street, Brisbane where 4,558 free burritos were given to customers.

There is a limit of one burrito or burrito bowl per person. No other food items available on opening day but cocktails, imported Mexican Beers and full drinks menu is available for purchase on the day.

After opening 16 restaurants across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, founder Steven Marks said “the logical next step was to make Canberra part of our success story and satisfy the taste buds of those looking for a new experience in Mexican dining”.

“We are excited to bring GYG to Bunda Street and offer fresh flavours, high quality ingredients and the real experience of Mexico to Canberrans,” he says.

“Mexico is our passion– we want each person who comes to GYG to discover a bit of Mexico through our entire offering, food, drinks, crew and the restaurant itself ” Mr Marks said.
