Fun run with a colourful twist

MJCWILKIEPRODUCTIONS-ColorRunSydney-1743CANBERRA will be have a leg in the international “Color Run”, the happiest five kilometres on the planet”, say the organisers.

With a target of 10,000 runners, the event will be held in Commonwealth Park on Sunday, February 16.

The fun run with a colourful twist is inspired in part by the Hindu Holi festival, with its tradition of welcoming spring by throwing natural coloured powders. Runners begin dressed in white, and finish looking like a rainbow after coloured powder is showered upon them during the five kilometre course and beyond, all in the name of fun.

Catering for participants of all ages and fitness levels, the Canberra course will travel along Parkes Way, before gathering together at Stage 88 for a colourful extravaganza of epic proportions at the “Finish Festival” featuring music from a DJ on stage and celebrations culminate in mass throws of coloured powder packets every colour of the rainbow.

Founded in the US in January 2012, The Color Run kicked off its Australian tour in Melbourne in November last year with two Sydney events and Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Cairns, Townsville and Sunshine Coast all having become multi-coloured in 2013.

Runners can enter The Swisse Color Run as individuals, or register as a team of four or more. Registration and event details available at theswissecolorrun.com.au
