Alleged recidivist drink driver caught hiding in Kambah bushes

police

ACT Policing apprehended a 37-year-old Kambah man for drink driving after he fled from police and hid in bushes in Kambah this morning (August 8).

About 3.40am, Woden Patrol members noticed a white Mitsubishi Triton utility driving in a suspicious manner southbound on Athlon Drive, Farrer.

The vehicle turned onto Sulwood Drive, Kambah, where police signaled the driver to stop the vehicle. The driver stopped near a pedestrian laneway and fled on foot.

Police located the driver hiding in bushes in parkland some distance away. The driver underwent an alcohol screening test which returned a positive result and he was subsequently conveyed to Woden Police Station for breath analysis, which returned a reading of 0.078.

The man was the holder of a Provisional Driver License and therefore subject to a blood alcohol concentration of zero. He was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending his right to drive for 90 days. He was also identified as a repeat drink driving offender.

The 37-year-old Kambah man will be summonsed to attend the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
