A 36-year-old Queanbeyan man will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with resisting arrest and two counts of using a carriage service to menace.
About 2pm yesterday police arrested the man in Akuna Street, Civic, in relation to his repeatedly contacting ACT Fire and Rescue from the YHA public phone and stating there was a fire.
The man resisted arrest and police say it took five officers to secure him in a police caged vehicle.
Police will allege in court that the man had made numerous nuisance calls to the ACT police emergency and ACT Fire and Rescue emergency lines.
A crowd of people witnessed the arrest and and police are urging anyone with footage to come forward as this may assist the investigation.
