A MAN who allegedly assaulted a woman and stole her car in Canberra’s south will face court today.
Police will allege the 42-year-old man and a friend approached the woman who was asleep in her car at an residence in Chisholm around 5am on Friday morning, physically assaulted her with a torch and stole her mobile phone and car keys. The man then stole the victim’s car.
Yesterday morning, police found the stolen vehicle at an address in Kambah and conducted a forensic examination.
The man was located shortly after by police at the Kambah Village Shopping Centre. He was arrested for robbery and assault and taken to the Tuggeranong Police Station for questioning.
The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today where police will be opposing bail.
