SIMON Corbell says the ACT has exceeded the national growth rate of available hospital beds by 2.5 per cent in the past 4 years, according to a new Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) report released today.
Simon welcomed the release of the AIHW Hospital Resources 2013-14: Australian Hospital Statistics Report which shows there was a total of 1,030 available beds in ACT Hospitals in 2013-14, compared to 986 in 2012-13.
“That’s an average of a 4.5 per cent increase from 2012-13 to 2013-14 compared to the national average increase of 0.6 per cent,” Simon said.
“The ACT Government has invested heavily in our public hospitals and it shows, with our hospital bed stock having increased by 59 per cent from 670 in 2002, up to 1,068 at the end of 2014-15.”
