Marriage equality rally to put the heat on Turnbull

marriage equality rally

EQUAL Love Canberra, a campaign group for equal marriage rights, is calling on all supporters of equality to rally in Civic on Saturday October 3.

“We have to keep the pressure up” Equal Love activist Anna Dennis said.

“Malcolm Turnbull has made it clear that he won’t try and change the Government’s position on equal marriage right. He has been happy to ignore public sentiment and deny the rights of same-sex couples in exchange for becoming prime minister. We won’t forget that insult, and we won’t let him off the hook.”

The rally will begin at 1pm in Petrie Plaza, Civic with a range of speakers from community and political groups. Supporters of equal marriage rights will then take to the streets and march to make sure their message is seen and heard as much as possible.

“We’re fighting for a basic civil right. We won’t sit and wait patiently while this discrimination continues. Our demand is simple – Marriage rights now,” Anna concluded.
