A RECORD number of international visitors to Canberra have injected an additional $115 million into the ACT economy in the past year, according to Tourism Research Australia .
In its latest International Visitor Survey, money spent by international visitors for the year ending June 2017 has reached a new record level of $535.4 million, representing a 27.3 per cent increase over the same period last year.
Visitor numbers are also at an all-time high of 221,479, up 9.1 per cent and slightly ahead of the national average of 8.7 per cent. The says the growth has come from people visiting Canberra for a holiday, to visit their friends and relatives and for business.
China continues to be the ACT’s largest international visitor source market at 21.3 per cent, followed by the UK (10.6 per cent), the US (9.3 per cent), NZ (6.8 per cent), Indonesia (4.6 per cent) and Singapore (3.6 per cent).
