Folk Festival calls out for volunteers

By Vanessa Lam

THE National Folk Festival is now on the lookout for volunteers for 2012.

The five-day festival, featuring music, dance and performing arts from around the world, will be held at Exhibition Park over the Easter weekend.

The call-out coincides with International Volunteers Day coming up on December 5.

NFF volunteer administrator, Ruby Hudson says that without the help of the volunteer workforce, the Festival wouldn’t be able to happen.

“Anyone can give it a go. The youngest volunteer last year was 16 and the oldest was 81, so it makes no difference who you are, what skills you have or what you’re interested in, there’s bound to be something for you,” Ruby said.

Volunteers are needed for all areas of the festival, including ticketing, hospitality, administration and the kid’s festival.

The experience can also offer an insight into stage and event management.

The NFF recently won the ACT Tourism 2011 Award for Best Festivals and Events.
