Canberra to host league test

FOR the first time Canberra will host the rugby league test between Australia and New Zealand in April next year, Sports Minister Andrew Barr announced today.

Sport Minister Andrew Barr.
Mr Barr said the match will be played at Canberra Stadium but the exact date of the match is still to be confirmed.

“[This] will be another key sporting event for Canberra’s Centenary year in 2013, and will again focus attention on Canberra as Australia’s sporting capital and as a great place to visit,” he said.

“For local rugby league fans it will be a great chance to see some of the sport’s best players in action, and another reason to invite their interstate family and friends to visit Canberra.”

The test will be played in the lead up to the 2013 World Cup in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France.
