Delays put pressure on home buyers, says Seselja

ACT OPPOSITION say delayed infrastructure projects in Molonglo that were revealed in Estimates today shows the Government’s inability to deliver infrastructure which supports land release and is making it even more difficult for first homebuyers to enter the market.

It was revealed the Molonglo projects that have been delayed for 12 months, are the north-south arterial road bridge and pedestrian bridge, and the sewer vent odour study. Delayed for 10 months is the east-west arterial road and extensions of John Gorton Drive to Molonglo River and for six months, work on water supply, trunk sewer and stormwater infrastructure.

“It was revealed today that Molonglo infrastructure projects such as bridges, roads and stormwater drains have been significantly delayed because ACT Labor can’t manage basic planning,”  Opposition Leader Zed Seselja said.

“ACT Labor’s mismanagement of these infrastructure projects is holding up land release and making it more and more difficult for first homebuyers to find affordable housing in Canberra.”
