Dunne to face arts forum

LIBERAL spokesperson for the arts Vicki Dunne will today speak to more than 100 people from the local arts community about the issues surrounding the Fitters’ Workshop and public art.

The forum, hosted by arts advocacy organisation The Childers Group, will be held at The Street Theatre at 5.30pm to discuss the future challenges.

“The Fitters’ Workshop and public art are quite divisive topics in the arts and the wider community and I look forward to discussing them in tonight’s forum,” Mrs Dunne said.

“I also look forward to discussing how to demonstrate the value of the arts to the broader community, as there seems to be a perception that the arts are elitist.

“Tonight’s emerging ideas may or may not be workable, but innovation only comes from radical ideas.”
