It’s a woman’s world in Deakin

WOMEN outnumber men in Deakin more than in any other suburb in Australia, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Census regional population estimates data shows the areas where women outnumber men most is generally within capital cities, with Deakin topping the list (81 males per 100 females), and Woollahra (84) in Sydney and Burwood (85) in Melbourne coming close behind.

In contrast, Darwin has the highest proportion of males, and is the only capital city where men outnumber women.

It is also Australia’s youngest city, with a median age of 33 years, while Canberra is Australia’s second youngest city, with a median age of 34.
