Keeping baby eco-friendly

ORGANIC baby clothing has never been more popular and one of the most successful brands is Gaia by former Canberran Annette Francis.

Babywear designer Annette Francis… “My fashion experience started with a textiles major at Canberra Girls’ Grammar.”
Sold in more than 100 stores, including David Jones, Gaia clothes are a popular choice among environmentally aware mums including model Miranda Kerr, who chose Gaia onesies for her son Flynn.

“I grew up in Canberra – my fashion experience started with a textiles major at Canberra Girls’ Grammar,” says Annette, who created the business 10 years ago.

“Gaia Organic Cotton is now a leading organic cotton babywear brand – and, in fact, the first organic cotton babywear brand in Australia.”

Annette’s aim is to design garments that delight in form, touch and style. “Choosing organic cotton is important. Globally, you will be helping support a sustainable industry, which in turn helps ensure baby will grow up in a safer, cleaner, happier environment,” she says.

Annette is returning to Canberra with Gaia for a two-day only sale at St John’s Anglican Church, Reid on October 19-20.
