The large outdoor sculpture exhibition will be unveiled at the official opening of the refurbished Tuggeranong Arts Centre on Saturday, in a day of art and music supported by the Centenary.

General manager of the Centenary, Adam Stankevicius, said, “Lakeside” is inspired by events like Bondi’s Sculpture by the Sea and Jindabyne’s Lakelight Sculpture, taking art out of the gallery environment and into the public realm.”

He added that the exhibition’s theme was to  be  sustainability and would include 15 sculptures and installations made from recycled and re-purposed materials. The audience, he said,  would  be able to walk among the works.

The opening celebration also features hands-on activities for children and a range of local acts, including dance troupe Fresh Funk, the Tuggeranong Ukulele Gang and Zambesi Sounds and indie/folk band Lavers, headed by the centre’s newest staff recruit, public relations officer Dominic Lavers.

The CEO of the centre, Rauny Worm, said the day would herald “an exciting new chapter”  for TAC.

Launch of refurbished Tuggeranong Arts Centre, 11am-4pm, Saturday, Nov 30, and food and drinks available. Free event. The sculpture exhibition, “Lakeside,” runs from November 30-December 1, with free guided tours at 2pm on both days.
