Police search for ‘suspicious man’

POLICE are trying to identify a “suspicious person” who approached a 13-year-old-girl in Chisholm last week.

About 7.55am on Monday, June 24, the girl was waiting at the bus stop on Heagney Crescent, Chisholm when she was approached by a man on foot who offered to drop her at the Chisholm shopping precinct in his car.

The girl ignored the man and left the area. Police say the man “did not threaten the girl during the incident and there was no indication the male intended to harm her.”

The man is described as described as African in appearance, aged in his in his mid-40s, approximately 160cm in height and of medium build.

He was wearing a dark-coloured jumper and track pants with white stripes down the side. His face was covered with black or dark grey fabric, although he pulled the fabric down from his face when he approached the girl.

Detectives would like to speak with anyone who may know the man or any witnesses who may have seen a male matching that description around the time of the incident.
