Summer markets back in Queanbeyan

QUEANBEYAN’S Summer Sunset Markets returns tomorrow, Friday October 4,   from 5pm to 8pm under fairy lights in the courtyard next to Council chambers in Crawford Street.

Dorothy-Jane Gosper and Mike Beale will play acoustic blues sets at the markets and will contribute to the atmosphere for which the markets have become known.

Hales says some of last year’s food stalls would be back such as the Greek food stall run by Yiannos Catering.

Another regular stallholder, Natalie of Crafted3 will also be there with her extremely popular cupcakes, cake-pops and other baked goodies, and Adam’s Patisserie will return with his scrumptious middle-eastern pastries and biscuits.

Billed as ‘the perfect opportunity to start buying unique Christmas gifts’, it also features handcrafted jewellery by Karina Raffaele of Karmic Star Jewellery will be on display, as well as quilts and other textile items.

Queanbeyan Mayor Tim Overall said the markets were a great way to wind down after the birthday week and a very enjoyable community event that was becoming an institution in Queanbeyan. “The markets started in 2009 over the spring/summer months and have grown in popularity each year. The markets are a great visitor and tourist drawcard and have provided an opportunity for consumers to access locally grown fresh produce,” he  said.
