TERRITORY and Municipal Services have advised they are closing the sports grounds for the duration of the heavy rain we’re experiencing and beyond.

“Due to continuing heavy rain, all ACT Government sportsgrounds will be closed this weekend resulting in the cancellation of all competition sport,” a spokesperson said.

“The decision has been taken in the interests of player safety and to minimise potential damage to the turf surfaces.”

Meanwhile the ACT SES have reported 16 calls for help.
