SINCE I started this series I’ve been under considerable and concerted pressure in the “CityNews” offices to review Oscar’s CBD.
Succumbing to this multi-pronged badgering I popped in there today.
It all became clear. Oscars was entirely populated by friendly chatty blonde women.
They also do a damn good panini.
I went with southern chicken and garlic aoli for $7.50.
It was skillfully wrangled on the sandwich toaster to be warm and crunchy without becoming mouth shreddingly hard.
The lettuce and tomato were still great.
And where aoli is often flavourless greasy slime this once had a pleasing garlic kick to it that made this a prince among sandwiches.
So in short what can often be pretty ordinary, and indeed I had low expectations for, turned out to be a damn fine way to enjoy lunch.
You can find Oscars CBD on City Walk sharing a wall with David Jones.
