THIS Saturday November 1 commemorates 100 years since the first convoy of Australian troops departed Albany for the First World War.
As part of MoAD’s commemoration of the Anzac Centenary, they have an exhibition “Crisis 1914! The call to arms”.
A prominent feature of this exhibition is a striking Charles Bryant painting of this first convoy departing Albany (on loan from the Australian War Memorial and featured here).
“Crisis 1914!” explores Australia’s first involvement in a global crisis as a newly formed nation, and offers unique insight into the Cabinet decisions which lead to Australia going to war.
