Fire at the Mitchell phone exchange

Firefighters have extinguished a small fire in a telephone exchange this morning in Mitchell.

ACT Fire & Rescue was alerted to the incident in Sandford Street by an automatic fire alarm just after 7:30am.

Fire crews arrived a short time later and put out the fire.

Smoke is now being ventilated from the building.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
