PRESIDENT of the National Capital Attractions Association (NCAA) Craig Whelan and Director of the National Capital Educational Tourism Project (NCETP) Garry Watson have expressed their delight at the approval of the FreeSpirit accommodation development near Exhibition Park, the first stage due for completion in February 2016.

“ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr is a great friend to Tourism in Canberra and this project is highly anticipated by NCAA members” Craig said. (Members of the NCAA include Canberra’s key cultural attractions and tourism destinations including Questacon, the National Zoo and Aquarium, Australian War Memorial and National Gallery of Australia).

Garry said this development will ensure even more Australian school students can undertake an excursion to the National Capital.

“The development will offer dormitory-style accommodation with kitchen and dining hall facilities for up to 480 plus 46 serviced caravan and camping sites and services for Recreational Vehicles. This will not only cater to school students but key markets such as seniors, families and sporting groups will all benefit.” Garry said.

“Visitors to key Canberra events such as the National Folk Festival will be delighted at the increased accommodation service so close to the venue.

“Chief Minister Barr understands the importance of providing a new standard of tourist park and budget accommodation in the Nation’s Capital and the proof is in the print with the approval of the project.”

Both Whelan and Watson agreed, that “As soon as the doors open we will fill it!”
