Upgrade complete at Tuggeranong Town Park

SHANE Rattenbury has announced the completion of works to upgrade Tuggeranong Town Park.

“The $870,000 upgrade has improved the amenity, accessibility and safety of this much loved and popular park on the shores of Lake Tuggeranong,” Shane said.

The improvements to the park include:

  • upgrades to the foreshore path along the edge of Lake Tuggeranong, including improved lighting
  • a new accessible path from the car park to the main picnic area and upgrades to the path connecting the foreshore and the playgrounds
  • refurbishments to the jetty
  • the installation of new accessible picnic settings
  • the installation of two shade structures over equipment in the play area.

“The car park, accessed from Bartlett Place, was also reconfigured to better meet the needs of those with disabilities or those with prams as well as improving and controlling vehicle access into the park.

“The ACT Government undertook consultation with the community and stakeholders to find out what residents wanted for Tuggeranong and to inform the Tuggeranong Town Park Master Plan. The recent improvements are the result of recommendations from the Master Plan and reflect the ACT Government’s commitment to improving our local parks and recreational spaces.

“These works have really revitalised a popular area, improving the amenity and creating a more attractive and accessible park for south Canberra.

Mr Rattenbury thanked park users for their patience during construction of the improvement works.
