RESIDENTS of a home in Wanniassa have had a lucky escape this morning following a fire.

ACT Fire and Rescue responded to the Watkins Street property with two fire pampers after being alerted at 4:21.

Firefighters arrived a short time later to find a fire in the living room which they quickly contained and extinguished.

The residents were safely evacuated.

Prompt action of fire crews meant smoke and fire damage was contained to just the one room of the house.

The fire was started by a faulty power board.
