A golden bog brush for Malcolm

ACT cleaners have bestowed the 2016 Golden Toilet Brush Award upon Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the entry of his Canberra residence, The Lodge.

The United Voice Union’s ACT branch secretary Lyndal Ryan said it had been awarded in recognition of Mr Turnbull’s failure to overturn a decision to scrap the Commonwealth Cleaning Services Guidelines, which cut an average of $6,837 from workers’ wages.

“PM Turnbull has travelled across the nation this election and promised money to the top end of town, yet can’t fix a problem in his own bathroom,” Lyndal said.

“Since the Government slashed the Commonwealth Cleaning Guidelines wages for Parliament House cleaners have been cut by an average of $6,837 a year.

“The Parliament House cleaners have not had a pay increase since 1 July 2012, yet they are being asked to do more and more.”
