PET owners are urged to keep animals away from Yerrabi Pond, as the blue-green algae could cause them severe sickness or even death. 
An alert has been released by Access Canberra to warn pet owners of the threat blue-green algae has for animals.
Access Canberra says rowing, fishing, boating and canoeing is still allowed at Yerrabi Pond by people who are experienced and informed.
People are warned against any primary contact but are reminded that shower facilities, with suitable water is available. Clothing that has been in the water should be washed to remove any blue-green algae residue.
Access Canberra says anyone concerned about possible symptoms of blue-green algae exposure following water exposure should contact their GP.
