Jacka burn tonight

controlled burn

A HAZARD reduction burn will be conducted tonight (20 January 2016), weather permitting.

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will conduct a hazard reduction burn in Jacka, adjacent to Roden Cutler Drive on the Elm Grove property. This is a continuation of the burn undertaken on Saturday 16 January.

Twelve personnel will conduct the burn with two heavy tankers, two medium tankers and a command vehicle.

The burn will be approximately one hectare in size and commence at around 7:00pm.

Temporary smoke cover may occur in the areas around the burn locations. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
