Joy Warren art up for auction

THE life work of long time Canberra gallery owner, the late Joy Warren, will be marked this weekend in an auction of her art collection.

This will also be the debut Canberra event for noted auctioneers Mossgreen, who have assigned Phillip A. Jones as Canberra representative.

The exhibition + auction will be held at the Albert Hall on Saturday April 10,  with public viewings of the works at the Ainslie Arts Centre in Braddon from Friday April 8.

Over many years, anyone who was anyone in the Australian painting world had hung their work at Warren’s Solander– Gallery, including Brett Whiteley, Arthur Boyd, Judy Cassab, Sidney Nolan, Frank Hodgkinson, Roy Churcher, Margaret Woodward, Michael Taylor, Mandy Martin, Robert Boynes, Imants Tillers and John Firth-Smith.

All eyes will be on what remains in this no doubt eclectic collection.

The Estate  of Joy Warren OAM, viewing, Ainslie Arts Centre, Elouera  Street, Braddon, Friday, April 8, 10 AM to 5 PM,  Saturday, April 9, 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday, April 10, 9 AM to noon.

Auction at Albert Hall, Commonwealth Avenue,  2 PM, Sunday, April 10. Goods to be collected and paid for at Ainslie Arts Centre on April 11 and 12.
