A 21-year-old Isabella Plains man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on charges including theft and possession of stolen property following a witness report.
About 4:25am this morning (4 October 2016), police received a report from a member of the public of a man attempting to break into vehicles on Eldridge Crescent in Garran.
About 4.30am, police arrived at Eldridge Crescent and observed a vehicle with its front passenger side door open and a smashed rear passenger window.
Police apprehended the 21-year-old man, and in his possession were various mail items from letterboxes along Eldridge Crescent, garage door openers, tools and gloves.
The man has been charged with theft, property damange and unlawful possession of stolen property and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
Station Sergeant Harry Hains of Woden Police Station would like to thank the member of the public for contacting police, leading to the arrest of this man.
“The community is our eyes and ears. If you see someone acting suspiciously, we ask you to contact 131 444 for police assistance,” Station Sergeant Harry Hains said.
“This type of information greatly assists police to not only solve crime, but assists to prevent further crime as well.”
