TUGGERANONG Arts Centre is opening a multi-disciplinary project to the COVID-19 pandemic called “First Response”. Commissioned by the centre, the works highlight Canberra’s role as the national centre of this crisis, and include “Plagued”, a solo exhibition of new works by photographer Martin Ollman, “Isolation”, a short documentary film by Marissa McDowell exploring the COVID-19 experience of Canberra’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, “Notes on Canberra Lockdown (A Non-Travelogue)”, a video installation by Anna Georgia, and a solo dance performance and video recording by Shannon Hanrahan. At Tuggeranong Arts Centre, July 25 to September 19. 

THE Street Theatre is opening to live performance on July 25 when the “faux-French” duo Baby et Lulu (musicians Abby Dobson and Lara Goodridge) take the stage at Street 2 with French song, banter, music and joie de vivre. It’s booked out for live viewing but they’re also streaming it, with separate bookings for the live and online version. Bookings at thestreet.org.au

MARCELA Fiorillo’s piano pupils, Justin Chan, Janelle Chia, Ivan Wang, Joshua Li, Johanna Chia, Iris Bian, Aaron Choy, Ingrid Stening, Emily Wang, Duong Nguyen, Matthew Crafter, Christine Thompson, Brigid Cummins and Michael Anthrak, will be performing works by JS Bach, Mozart, Prokofiev, Scriabin and others, at Wesley Music Centre, 3.30pm, Sunday, July 26. KAMBRI at ANU is presenting “Where I Stand”, a curated selection of artworks from photographers Michael Cook, Judith Crispin, Sarah Ducker, Murray Fredericks, Barbara McGrady and Michael Jalaru Torres. Situated outdoors on Exhibition Avenue, a new outdoor public art space on University Avenue is to open alongside the exhibition on Monday, July 27. Guests will be required to keep a distance of 1.5 metres at all times.

JACQUI Malins’ Mother Tongue Multilingual Poetry has French singer Julia Baldy and Serbian-Australian poet Vesna Cvjeticanin as featured performers in next week’s Zoom session, 6.30pm for 7pm, Monday, July 27.
