Artsday / Orchestra puts the spotlight on composers

THE Canberra Symphony Orchestra’s “Australian Miniseries” turns the spotlight on 15 Aussie composers through short works for solo instruments. Co-curated by Matthew Hindson and incoming artistic advisor Jessica Cottis, the season continues this week with “Trussed”, composed by Luke Styles and played by David Flynn on double bass, at 6.45pm this Friday, August 7, accessible here

THE Street Theatre has a work-in-progress showing online of Dylan Van Den Berg’s play “Milk” at 5pm on Friday, August 7, directed by Gin Savage. Spanning two centuries, it tracks a conversation between three Aboriginal ancestors stranded together on a metaphysical Flinders Island off the coast of Tasmania. Limited places, bookings here.

Douglas Schofield’s artwork, “Foamy puddle after Rain”, pictured, will be shown as part of the “Intaglio” exhibition.

MEGALO Print Studio’s latest online exhibition, “Intaglio”, has prints on show by 40 selected artists from around the world. The works will be viewable via megalo.org until September 5.

FURTHER to what “CityNews” reported on Monday, August 3, about online classes at Belco Arts, the centre now tells us that its Dance for Wellbeing classes have been postponed for one week and will now commence on the week of August 10 and will continue for eight weeks. Register here.

CTC@Home host Chris Endrey

CHRIS Endrey’s weekly talk show, “The World From Here” will go live this Friday, August 7, to mark the conclusion of Canberra Theatre Centre’s digital season, CTC@Home. Audiences will be able to watch the final episode live in the Link Bar, followed by a gig featuring Endrey and friends. The episode will also be available to live stream free here while the subsequent gig will not be broadcasted. Bookings for the live event via canberratheatrecentre.com.au or 6275 2700.

Colombian illustrator Jose Rosero

THE Embassy of Colombia is holding a online conversation hosted by Colombian illustrator Jose Rosero, poet and writer Andrea Cote and the Humboldt Institute (Colombian biodiversity Research Institute) to commemorate of the bicentennial of the Battle of Boyacá in 1819.
