CHILDREN’S birthday parties are bigger than ever, with more people going “all-out”, particularly for first birthdays, says Tracey McMahon, owner and founder of Canberra’s Coolest Parties.

Tracey, who loves creating priceless memories that will last forever, says once one person goes big, others follow.

And, with restrictions easing and gatherings back on, Tracey couldn’t be happier to get back to putting her big ideas into planning parties, and says she’s done themed parties such as superhero parties, “Bambi” parties, fairytale worlds and even “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.

The ideas are endless, says Tracey, who started her business 18 months ago, after getting so many compliments on her two-year-old son’s “Thomas the Tank Engine”-themed party.

“People loved the decorated table, cake and hand-painted train I made. [From there], the seed of an idea was planted for me,” she says.

From baby showers and christenings to any-age birthday parties, special occasions, engagements or small weddings, Tracey says she brings the party to her clients to take the stress out of party planning.

“I’ll go through everything beforehand to get a clear idea of what concept my clients are after,” she says.

“[Then], I enjoy the freedom to dream and be creative. The fine details can create an amazing effect [like] making or finding different props and mixing them up, and hand-painting my own items can really bring the theme to life.

Most of all, Tracey says she loves to help people make the most of their special day.
