Barr warns Canberrans not to race to the coast, but they do

DESPITE a finger wagging from Chief Minister Andrew Barr at this afternoon’s week-long covid lockdown announcement, the rush by Canberrans to the south coast was described as “crazy”.

The Chief Minister said that racing off to the south coast was a “very bad thing” that put those communities at risk and that drivers of ACT number-plated cars shouldn’t expect a warm welcome from the locals.

And empty supermarket shelves in Queanbeyan and Bungendore lay in their wake tonight. Pictured are empty shelves at the Bungendore IGA, cleaned out of bread and vegetables.
