Bonner man caught with child abuse material

POLICE discovered child abuse material in the form of videos and images on a Bonner man’s phone and computer during a police search yesterday (March 22).

During the search, police also suspended the man’s gun licence and seized his firearms and ammunition after they located two registered firearms incorrectly stored.

The man, a 38-year-old, has been charged with possessing or controlling child abuse material obtained or accessed using a carriage service, possessing child exploitation material, and failing to store firearms correctly.

He will face charges at the ACT Magistrates Court next month.

Further charges are expected.

Members of the public who have any information about people involved in the possession or sharing of child exploitation material are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000.
