Car park bingles are big in Belconnen

BELCONNEN has been named the worst suburb for car park collisions in the ACT, from an analysis of AAMI insurance claims.

The next worst ACT suburb is Gungahlin, followed by Fyshwick, with the worst day and time for car park crashes being on Wednesday afternoons.

According to car insurer AAMI, bingles in car parks are on the rise, as people become increasingly time-poor and frustrated in their hunt for a park over the holiday period.

“Our message to drivers this silly season who find themselves doing laps of the shopping centre carpark is to stay calm and avoid letting your emotions and impatience get the better of you,” AAMI’s Matthew Pugliese said.

Between December 1, 2020 to November 30, 2021 AAMI received 22,000 car park insurance claims from across the country, with the highest number of shopping centre car park collisions occurring in December closely followed by January.
