No surprises what they’re calling the new school at Throsby…

Artist’s impression of the new Throsby School… to open next year.

THE votes are in and the ACT’s newest public school at Throsby is to be called… Throsby School.

The community has chosen the name, logo and uniform – a eucalyptus leaf design – for the school, set to open its doors for preschool to year 6 students at the start of 2022.

The school – like the suburb – is named after Charles Throsby, a surgeon and explorer, who explored the country around Lake Bathurst, Lake George, and the Murrumbidgee River in 1820. He followed the Molonglo and Queanbeyan Rivers, starting from Lake George to arrive in the present day ACT in 1821.
