Another two covid deaths in southern NSW

A MAN in his 80s from the Queanbeyan-Palerang region and a man in his 60s from the Bega Valley have both died from COVID-19, the Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has reported today (January 21).

Their deaths bring the total covid death toll in the district since June 2021 to nine.

SNSWLHD reported 525 new cases of the virus throughout southern NSW today, 363 of which were detected by PRC tests and 162 detected by Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs), with the total active cases now at 3679.

Ninety-seven of the new cases were recorded in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region.

There are currently 23 people throughout the district hospitalised with covid, four of which are in intensive care.

Elsewhere in southern NSW there are:

  • 42 new cases in the Bega Valley
  • 110 in Eurobodalla
  • 50 in Goulburn Mulwaree
  • 38 in the Snowy Monaro
  • 13 in the Upper Lachlan and
  • 13 in the Yass Valley
